The Past
Well since Neptune is really far away from the sun, it never has had any life on the planet. It really has never affected Earth in a positive or negative way because Neptune is far away " In fact, It's so far away that's it's not visible to the naked eye and was first observed in 1846 by Urbain le Verrier and Johann Galle." ( Space facts, pg.1, 2015) Even though it is the furthest planet away from the sun it didn't use to be. "In August of 2006, Pluto was demoted to what we call a "dwarf planet." (Everyday mysteries, pg.1, 2012) which means that now there is only 8 planets with Neptune being the furthest. One of the craziest things about Neptune is that it is known for always having ice storms. "The atmosphere is made up of helium and nitrogen with some methane." " the methane absorbs red light, which makes Neptune appear to be a light blue color." (Space facts, pg.1, 2015) because the atmosphere is made up of helium, nitrogen, and methane, that is the main reason for all the serious storms around or inside Neptune. " One of the largest storms ever seen in the Milky Way was recorded around Neptune. High speed winds track up to around 600 meters per second. This storm was called the Great Dark Spot and it lasted for about 5 years." (Space facts, pg.1, 2015) " Neptune has always had 14 moons and has one of the coldest moons in our galaxy called Triton." "Triton was discovered by William Lassell in 1846 one day after the discovery of Neptune, it was more than 100 years later before a second moon was found. The most distant moon of Neptune is called Neso, and orbits so far away that it takes 26 years to make one trip around the planet. " (Space facts, pg.1, 2015) "Triton is probably the coldest world in our solar system." (Space facts, pg.1, 2015) There has been one spacecraft that has flown by Neptune. " In 1989, the Voyager 2 spacecraft swept past the planet and it also returned the first close up pictures of Neptune." (Space facts, pg.1, 2015)
" This gas giant planet may have formed much closer to the Sun in early solar system history before migrating to its present position." (Space facts, pg.1, 2015)
